User account in the university administration

All employees of the university administration need this user account exclusively for working on the computer within the administration network and mobile working in the Parallels environment. It must be applied for separately at least 4 weeks before the start of work. The hardware requirements are recorded at the same time as the application.  Please also inform us of changes (contract extension, contract end) at least 4 weeks in advance.

To use the intranet of the university website, ILIAS or other general services of the KIM, you also need a Hohenheim user account. This is set up automatically as part of the recruitment process and must be activated by the employees themselves.

For IT security reasons, please always use different passwords for the user account in the administration and the Hohenheim user account.

E-mail

With your user account in the university administration area, you will automatically receive a personal e-mail address in the format: vorname.nachname@verwaltung.uni-hohenheim.de or vorname.nachname@ua.uni-hohenheim.de.

The mailbox can only be accessed within the administration network using Outlook. It has a memory of 7 GB and a maximum e-mail size of 50 MB.

In the Hohenheim user account area you have another e-mail address. You will also receive information via this, which will be published on the intranet, for example. It is strongly recommended to forward these e-mails to your personal e-mail address. Forwarding can be set up in webmail.

Automatic e-mail forwarding in case of sickness and holiday replacement

Redirections are practical, but can be problematic from a data protection point of view. This is the case when sensitive data leaves the area of application of the University of Hohenheim, data flows out or is accessible to third parties. The following principles therefore apply in the area of university administration.

An automatic forwarding can be set up on the server side upon request by the user

  • to another e-mail address within the university administration or
  • to an e-mail address of the Hohenheim user account if it is ensured and confirmed in writing that no forwarding is set up and active for the Hohenheim user account.

The following also applies:

  • E-mails may only be retrieved using business equipment.
  • Automatic forwarding to an external e-mail address is not permitted.

Personal directory (U-drive) for storing data

With your user account, you automatically receive a personal disk area - a so-called U-drive - personal directory (U-drive) on the file server central data server of the university administration. The U-drive has a personal directory capacity of 8 GB.More storage space can be requested via form.
