FAQ
General issues
ILIAS emails can be addressed to the ILIAS user name of an email recipient. It is not possible to enter an email address.
The ILIAS email is sent to the email address stored in the ILIAS system. In case of email changes, please send an email to the ILIAS support team.
In cooperation, each semester KIM and the Office of University Didactics offer workshops and training sessions on using ILIAS in teaching.
You can find current seminar dates in the F.I.T. portal.
- If you need administrative rights for a department that already exists in ILIAS, you can request these. If the department does not yet exist in ILIAS, it will be created for you. You and any other requested people will then receive administrative rights. In both cases, please fill out the form.
- If you leave the University of Hohenheim, then please transfer your department to another administrator. In order for us to be able to delete you as an administrator afterwards, please inform us by sending an informal email to: iliasadmin@uni-hohenheim.de
To allow us to customize your name and / or email address in ILIAS after your wedding, please let us know about this change: iliasadmin@uni-hohenheim.de
Login/logout
- With your log-in information for your Hohenheim user account, you can sign in to ILIAS.
- The first time you sign in, you will need to accept the user agreement.

Staff members of the University of Hohenheim:
The login details for ILIAS are the same as for your Hohenheim user account.
Please check whether you can log in to one of the other services, e.g., Webmail, University of Hohenheim homepage.
If you can no longer log in at all, try resetting your password for your Hohenheim user account. Information can be found here.
Tips for lecturers
You can find detailed information on ILIAS and brief instructions in the Schnell-Digital Anleitungen (in German only, visible after logging into ILIAS).
You can have context-sensitive online help displayed - no matter where you are on the platform. Activate the online help directly in ILIAS by clicking on the question mark at the top right of any page.
To assign students to groups (e.g. for excursions, exercises, presentations...), we recommend using groups with limited membership using the object “Buchungspool”. Both functions offer the possibility to set a limited number of participants.
- Advantages groups: Membership conditions/limits guarantee that every user only registers for one group.
- Advantages booking pool: Apart from booking pools without set timetables (e.g. for giving out oral presentation subjects), it is also possible to create booking pools with set timetables and booking periods (e.g. for room booking).
If you want to re-use courses from previous semesters for the upcoming semester, please delete all previous course members before the course starts (Tab “Mitglieder” > select “alle Mitglieder auswählen” > click on “Entfernen”).
You can design your department on ILIAS as you wish and create courses and other objects there as an administrator.
When creating ILIAS courses, please always use the complete course title with module number from the module catalogue. Your ILIAS course will then be automatically linked in HohCampus. A description of the courses with metadata, e.g. semester, location, time and lecturer, makes it easier to find the courses in the ILIAS Magazine.
