Microsoft Office 365 A3

Since 1 May 2021, only one local installation of Microsoft Office Professional on the PC used by the user is possible; for each additional device, the installation must be carried out via the Microsoft 365 program.

Microsoft Office 365 A3 can also be installed on private computers for business purposes (work at home).

NOTE:
This page and the procedure for applying for Microsoft Office 365 A3 licenses are still under construction. The information is continually revised and updated.

There is no central backup for content stored online – you should back up your content yourself.

Requirement

You are an employee of the University of Hohenheim and have a Hohenheim user account.You also need an individual Microsoft account (like the one you need to use Microsoft Teams). You can set up this account yourself via the Microsoft portal.

What to do

Self-registration (not applicable if you already have a Teams account)

  1. Visit this page:
    Microsoft 365 Education

  2. Enter your Hohenheim email address (...@uni-hohenheim.de), not the address with @verwaltung.uni-hohenheim.de or similar addresses.

  3. Indicate that you are a lecturer (employee).

  4. You will then receive a registration code by email, which you can use to complete the registration process by entering your name and choosing a password .

Apply for a Microsoft Office 365 A3 licence

Once you have an individual Microsoft account (after self-registration or from Microsoft Teams), you can apply for licences via this form.

  1. You will then receive confirmation of the allocation of your licence. Note: It can take up to 24 hours for this change to take effect!

  2. Log in to the Microsoft 365 portal, there you can download and install the software.

Free open source solutions offer a good alternative to the usual office applications (Writer, Calc, Impress,...):
