In addition to the inter-library loan, you can also utilize other delivery services for copies of journal articles and partly for books as well.

General and multidisciplinary delivery services

These services have shorter delivery times, but are more expensive than inter-library loans.

Cooperative fee-based document delivery service provided by the German libraries. Nationwide delivery service for books and journal essays. Provides normal service (three working days) and expedited service (one working day). About Subito

Ingenta

Ingenta is a commercial provider that primarily delivers essays from English-language journals. About Ingenta

Areas of collection emphasis in German libraries

You can find a list of the areas of collection emphasis in German libraries in WEBIS. 

Some libraries offer their own (fee-based) delivery service in addition to the inter-library loan, Subito or Ingenta.
