Library account

To use the KIM Library, you need a library card and a library account.
Please present the library card each time you want to check something out. The media are booked on your library account.

The library account will be created for you at the Central Library Circulation Counter, Garbenstraße 15. To register for a library account, please bring the status form for employees signed by the institute/department, your personal ID card (or a passport with a registration card) and – if you have one – your university employee ID card. Your employee ID card can be activated as a library card when you register, or you can have a library card issued to you.

A non-personal department account can be set up for inter-library loan functions for the different departments (see “Fachgebietskonto”). Inter-library loan fees for these accounts are settled annually by KIM via internal billing with the department.

Functions of the library account

  • Overview of all media on loan
  • Renewal of the loan period
  • View your reservations and online orders (inter-library loan requests and orders from the external stacks).
  • View your overdue notices and other notifications
  • View the address saved for your account
  • Reserve media on loan
  • Submit inter-library loan requests
