FAQ

LEA means: "Lokaler Elektronischer Aufsatzlieferdienst” (Local Electronic Article Delivery Service).

This free service is only available to University of Hohenheim students and employees. To use these offers, you need a student id, employee card or library card from the KIM Library, which you can obtain from the circulation desk in the Central Library.

LEA is currently provided free of charge for members (students and employees) of the University of Hohenheim.

With LEA, you can order articles from journals in the KIM library holdings. Exceptions: - Articles from journals with an oversized format (larger than A3), - Articles from journals that must be protected for conservation reasons, - Articles longer than 30 pages.

The library processes the article orders on business days. It usually takes between 24-72 hours. For technical and organizational reasons, in individual cases the waiting time could be longer.

A maximum of 20 orders can be placed per day.

You can read the articles on your screen, print them, or save them for your personal use.

The ordered articles are scanned in black/white, grayscale, or color with a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch).

First you need to find the information for the article you want to order (author, title, page numbers, journal title, volume, and issue) Then research in the KIM library’s catalog like usual (Hohenheim Catalog), looking for the title of the journal. You can see whether the journal volume is in the library’s holdings in the full title display. Choose the option “Aufsatzkopie bestellen (LEA)” (order copy of article (LEA)) and fill out the form for ordering an article as completely as possible.

You might not be registered in the KIM-Library loan system. Please contact the Central Library circulation counter (phone number: 0711 459 22097).

Yes, as long as the order hasn’t yet been processed. The function “Bestellung stornieren” (cancel order) can be found in the order overview.

The scanned article will be provided as a pdf file and can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The scanned article is placed on the server for retrieval. The path information will be sent to you via email.

For copyright reasons, the KIM library cannot permanently save the scanned articles. That is why the files are deleted two days after they’re retrieved. Articles that are not retrieved are deleted 10 days after they have been made available. For each order, the articles need to be re-scanned.

The scanned article will be provided as a pdf file and can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

No. Without an email address, you cannot use the LEA service.

So that each user only gets the documents they ordered, in the /pdf directory there is not an overview of the documents. You should therefore enter the entire path name or click on it in the email.

The scan quality is sometimes affected by the type of paper used in the original. It is not always possible to improve the quality by manually adjusting the scanner lighting settings. Please let us know if you have repeated problems with the quality of documents.
