Open Access

Open Access refers to unrestricted free access to scientific publications on the Internet. Interested parties can read, download, copy, distribute, print and refer to the full texts without financial, legal or technical barriers. Excerpts and summaries may be produced and distributed digitally, provided that the authorship is appropriately identified. The authors retain the copyright to their contributions.

Hybrid Open Access: Articles are published in subscription journals, i.e. journals for which subscription fees must be paid. Authors can "buy out" their articles by paying a publication fee, so-called Article Processing Charges (APC), and thus make them freely accessible, as with gold open access.

Gold Open Access: Articles are published in original scientific Open Access journals against payment of a publication fee and are immediately available and freely accessible.

The University of Hohenheim has signed contracts with some publishers that allow for free or discounted open access publication of journal articles. The requirement is that you are responsible for the article as the (Responsible/Submitting) Corresponding Author and that you indicate your affiliation with the University of Hohenheim when submitting the article.

(Responsible/Submitting) Corresponding Authors handle communication with the publisher during the manuscript submission, peer review, and production processes. The (Primary) Affiliation is the institution at which the research work has been carried out to a significant extent.

Please use your Hohenheim email address in the publishing process. Otherwise, there may be problems with the correct mapping of your publications by the publisher. It may then not be possible to publish free of charge or at a discount.
