Virtual server

Upon request, you can also get a VMware server from us for your use. It is operated on a vSphere 7.0.3 cluster.

Properties

• Operating system
  You install the operating system yourself. With a few exceptions, you can install almost any standard operating system: Windows, Solaris, Linux, MacOS
• Network
  The virtual server has a Hohenheim network address (144.41.*).

Requirements

A confirmation from the director of the institute stating that it is necessary.

Procedure

• Send us all data necessary for setting up the virtual machine with this form.
• After review and set-up, we will contact you.

Important

• Please take note of the current user regulations.
• So far, this service is free of charge. However, the University Management has requested that we develop a fee structure. It is therefore possible that fees will be charged for new and existing virtual servers in the future.
• We reserve the right to immediately take down or turn off the virtual machine if there is a hacker attack or if there is malware. The operator will be informed immediately via telephone and, if he or she cannot be reached, via email.
