File transfer with FEX

You want to send a very large file? As a university member, you can use the FEX service from the BelWü state university network.

Conditions

• To set up an account, your computer has to be registered in the Hohenheim network.
• There are no requirements for the recipients of the files.

Your benefit

• Convenient file transfer: Both for uploading and downloading, a simple web browser (for files up to 2 GB) is sufficient, for larger files a java client is required
• Easy to use: Enter recipient, upload file - done! FEX does the rest: The download link is sent to the recipient and the file is deleted after 5 days.
• Any recipient: The recipients do not need an FEX account nor do they need to be a member of the university

Procedure - setting up an account

• From the Hohenheim network, open up this page in the browser: fex.belwue.de/fur
• Enter your Hohenheim email address
• Confirm by clicking on the button [ registrieren ] (register)
• You will receive an email from FEX with an activation link
• After you have clicked the activation link, you have a personal FEX address. You can save this as a bookmark in your browser.
• Also remember the authentication ID

Procedure - file transfer (upload)

• If necessary, encrypt the file you wish to send (password-protected ZIP, GPG, etc.)
• Access your personal FEX page in your browser
• As an alternative, you can also log in at fex.belwue.de
• Enter one or more recipients and confirm by clicking the button [ check recipients and continue ]
• Now specify the file you wish to send and click on the button to confirm [ upload ]
• FEX will notify the recipient!
