Internet access using eduroam

If you are visiting at a research institute, eduroam will let you login to the Internet. You can also login to the Hohenheim network via VPN, for example to access electronic journals.

Important note:
The eduroam service uses electronic certificates that are valid for a certain period. The validity of the root certificate "Deutsche Telekom Root CA 2" expires on 10 July 2019. To continue using eduroam, a configuration of eduroam with the CAT tool of the DFN is necessary. For detailed information, see the chapter "installation".

Installation

To connect via eduroam, you will need to install access to eduroam on your device.

Windows/iOS/MacOS/Linux: You call up the page https://cat.eduroam.org/ in the browser (Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari etc.) on the device concerned. Usually your operating system is recognised immediately and you only need to select the home organisation, in our case the University of Hohenheim, and follow the instructions. After that, other steps are necessary depending on the operating system. Here we refer to the installation instructions linked below.

Android: Download the "geteduroam" app onto your device and follow the instructions.

You can find detailed installation instructions for this program here:

Test in Hohenheim

If you are planning on using eduroam outside of Hohenheim, it is a good idea to test it briefly on the premises before you leave. You can find eduroam networks in all areas on the campus equipped with WiFi.
