Adobe and alternatives

The Adobe Acrobat software package is currently financed centrally and is therefore available to all university employees. Further information and the link to the download can be found here: https://kim.uni-hohenheim.de/en/111271

All other Adobe products must be licensed via a rental model of the state contract and purchased until the end of the contract period. There are two different licence models:

  1. named-user licence: The licence is assigned to one person (user).
  2. shared-device licence: The licence is assigned to a PC on which different people can work.

As Adobe licences are quite expensive, it may be advisable for people who only rarely work with Adobe programs to switch to an alternative.

Corel, a provider of software products for corresponding application areas, should be mentioned here as a general manufacturer alternative.

In the following overview you will find possible alternatives to the most common Adobe products. This is only a selection; the list does not claim to be exhaustive!
