New conditions for the operation of Windows servers  [12.04.21]

The previous state framework agreement for Microsoft products expires on April 30, 2021. This state framework agreement included an "MS Server Flat Rate". This "flat rate" was financed from additional central university funds provided by the rectorate. The cost structure and amount have changed in the new Microsoft contract as of May 1, 2021 in such a way that an "MS server flat rate" can no longer be agreed for Hohenheim.

The Microsoft server systems such as Windows Server, MS-SQL Server, etc. that you have used to date and will continue to use in the future must be licensed separately from 01.05.2021. The licenses have an annual term and must therefore be renewed annually. In order to determine your needs in the departments and institutes, we ask you to notify us of your needs in advance.

The financing of the costs for the Microsoft server licenses still has to be examined. The extent to which central financing is possible or whether participation by the departments will be required is still open.

For information on licensing terms, click here - your orders will be licensed under the Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES).

Please fill out the Excel form and tell us if the server is hosted on a virtual platform in KIM and what resources it uses. Also, please let us know servers running on separate hardware with the appropriate number of processors and cores. Please also consider the need for Client Access Licenses (CALs), e.g. for remote access.

As the tendering and licensing process for the new state framework agreement has not yet been completed, we are unfortunately not yet able to provide you with concrete details of future licensing costs. We will provide you with this information separately before you place a binding order.

Please send the completed Excel form at short notice untill 16.04.2020 to kim-software@uni-hohenheim.de.
