Google closes critical vulnerabilities in Android [07.07.23]
Google has closed a large number of security vulnerabilities in its Android operating system on its July patchday. The updates close over 40 vulnerabilities, two of which Google classifies as critical.
One vulnerability rated critical is in a core component of the operating system that allows a remote unauthenticated and unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code with privileged rights on a victim system.
The vulnerabilities affect Android versions 11, 12, 12L, and 13. According to Google, there is evidence of "limited" but "targeted" exploitation of current vulnerabilities, which have now also been closed with the updated versions.
Android users are advised to update their devices promptly.
