Updates for Google Chrome fix serious security vulnerabilities [24.08.23]
On Aug. 22, 2023, Google released version 116 of its Chrome web browser, fixing a total of five vulnerabilities. Two of the vulnerabilities are "use after free" vulnerabilities, three further vulnerabilities allow an "out of bounds memory access" via a specially constructed HTML page. Google does not provide further details on the closed vulnerabilities at this time.
To fix the vulnerabilities, users should update their installation to the latest Chrome versions 116.0.5845.110 for Linux and Mac and 115.0.5790.110/.111 for Windows.
Since the vulnerabilities are also regularly found in the open-source Chromium base, it can be assumed that other manufacturers will promptly release updated versions of their browsers that share the same base.
Basically, please make sure that the software products you use are always up to date.
