Webinars "Automation with ACME"  [09.12.25]

Important for IT system administrators and server managers: Server certificates are becoming significantly shorter-lived

The CA/Browser Forum is gradually reducing the validity period of public SSL/TLS server certificates: From March 2026, it will be only 200 days, and from 2029, it will be only 47 days instead of the current 398 days. This will make manual renewal processes impractical – automation via ACME will become inevitable.

What is ACME? ACME (Automated Certificate Management Environment) is a standardized protocol for the automatic application, renewal, and management of SSL/TLS certificates. Tools such as Certbot (Linux) or WinACME (Windows) take over the entire process without manual intervention.

The DFN (German Research Network) offers webinars on ACME automation to help you prepare. Learn about ACME basics, tools, and practical applications.

There are two identical dates to choose from:

  • Thursday, January 22, 2026, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, February 3, 2026, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Registration: Please register by email (kim-pki@uni-hohenheim.de), indicating your preferred date. You will then receive the dial-in details in good time before the webinar.
