In the Database Info System (DBIS), KIM Hohenheim provides access to subject databases. KIM is not responsible for technical problems with the providers’ operations. Databases licensed to the University of Hohenheim are marked with a yellow traffic light and only available to computers in the Hohenheim campus network (IP numbers starting with 144.41). University of Hohenheim members can access almost all databases even from outside the campus network. Those who are not members of the University of Hohenheim can only research in the databases on the PCs within the KIM library.

If you want to access the campus network when you are not on campus, there are two possibilities:

  1. Internet log-in using the VPN service (Software installation)

  2. Logging in using your preferred internet provider via Shibboleth. After choosing a database in DBIS, you will be forwarded to a log-in screen (Shibboleth Identity Provider Login). Here, enter the credentials of your Hohenheim user account. With this type of authentication, only library users who are members of the University of Hohenheim are accepted. With Shibboleth, you only have access to part of the offers since not all database providers support this authentication.
