Certificates for signing and encrypting e-mails  [28.07.17]

Checking the authenticity and integrity of a sender of e-mails, as well as the authenticity or confidentiality of data, is not provided for when sending e-mails. This results in reduced confidentiality with sensitive information.
 
The University of Hohenheim offers employees and members of the university the option of encrypting e-mails and signing documents.
 
To obtain the user certificate needed for this, go to

and select “User certificate” in the “Certificates” menu item. Enter your details into the fields on the following pages.
 
Please print off the application for a certificate and return it signed to the IT Service Desk. To verify your identity, please bring with you an official identity document with photograph (identity card, passport but regrettably no driving licence(!)). Once your identity has been verified, you will be emailed the certificate, generally within one working day.
