Update on the new webmail (Open-Xchange) on Monday, August 31, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m. [28.08.26]
As part of a scheduled maintenance, the new Open-Xchange Webmail will be updated. As part of this process, the login will be switched to the central authentication service Shibboleth.
As a result, the Webmail (Open-Xchange) login screen will change and will in the future match the login process for other web applications, such as literature and research resources, HohCampus, the F.I.T. portal, and state services like bwSync&Share. One advantage of this change is that, when using multiple web applications that support Shibboleth within a single browser, users will generally only need to log in once.
The Hohenheim user account, including the 2FA token, will continue to be used for login. Further information about Shibboleth is available on the information page of the KIM.
During the migration, access to Webmail (Open-Xchange) will be temporarily unavailable on Monday, August 31, 2026, between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Calendar synchronization will not be affected.
Existing logins will be automatically terminated during the transition. Afterward, you will need to log in again using the new login screen.
Receiving and sending emails via email clients such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird will not be affected by this change.
We appreciate your understanding regarding this measure.
