DEAL contracts with Springer Nature, Wiley and Elsevier  [11.03.24]

The DEAL contracts between the University of Hohenheim and the publishers Springer Nature and Wiley have been extended. Since 01.01.2024 there has been a further DEAL contract with the publisher Elsevier. The contract term for all three contracts ends on 31.12.2028.

These so-called PAR contracts (PAR=publish and read) include both the rights of read access and the possibilities of open access publishing. The contracts differentiate between publishing in hybrid journals and publishing in Gold Open Access journals.

Corresponding Hohenheim authors can publish in hybrid journals Open Access (under a Creative Commons license) without restriction and free of charge. These fees are financed centrally by the University of Hohenheim.

Authors incur costs for publishing in Gold Open Access journals (Fully Open Access). At Springer Nature and Wiley, corresponding Hohenheim authors receive a 20% discount on the Article Processing Charges (APCs). At Elsevier, corresponding Hohenheim authors receive a 20% discount on the APC list prices of Elsevier Fully Gold Open Access journals and a 15% discount on the list prices of Fully Gold Cell Press and The Lancet journals. The fees for publishing in Gold Open Access journals are first charged centrally to the university and then passed on to the authors / departments concerned.

On the Open Access pages of the KIM you will find further information on the DEAL contracts and the publishers' title lists with an overview of the hybrid journals and the Gold Open Access journals.
