Learn Linux & introduction to high-performance computing (bwHPC), 17 / 18 April 2024 [12.03.24]
The KIM is offering a 2-part online training course on 17 / 18 April 2024 for entry into high-performance computing in Baden-Württemberg (bwHPC). This event is aimed at students, doctoral candidates and employees of all disciplines who are interested in HPC and would like to implement their computationally and/or data-intensive simulations and computing projects on high-performance computers in the future.
Part 1 "Learning Linux: Getting started with high-performance computing" will take place on Wednesday, 17 April 2024 and is aimed at absolute beginners. Basic commands with Linux are explained, such as creating, copying and moving files, assigning rights and creating first scripts in an editor. In addition, it is shown how to proceed step by step from the application to the start on the high-performance computer bwUniCluster.
Further information on part 1.
In part 2 "Introduction to high-performance computing (bwHPC)", which will take place on Thursday, 18 April 2024, the use of the bwUniCluster will be explained for beginners. Examples will be used to show how computing resources of the high-performance computer are requested, calculations are started, software is started, but also how workspaces are created in the file system. The course is supplemented by exercises on the bwUniCluster to consolidate what has been learnt.
Further information on part 2.
Information on high-performance computing/bwHPC can be found on the KIM website.
