Operating "third party" wireless access points  [06.10.14]

The KIM occasionally receives reports of disruptions in the Hohenheim WiFi (HoWLAN), which are caused by “third parties” operating wireless access points.

Against this background we would like to refer to the user regulations of the KIM dated 2 December 2010, published in the official memorandum no. 738. Section 7(2r) states: The users are obligated “to refrain from operating wireless network systems that would disrupt or expand the wireless network infrastructure of the KIM. As a rule, wireless network systems may only be operated after obtaining consent from KIM;”

In order to avoid disruptions to the Hohenheim WiFi or to create a potential target surface to the universities IT infrastructure, we urge you not to install own wireless access points.
