Publication process & instuctions

Requirements for publication on HohPublica

  • The document was created as part of a research activity at the University of Hohenheim and/or has a relevant reference to the University of Hohenheim.
  • The document was prepared as a PDF file without restrictive security settings in accordance with our information on preparing electronic documents.
  • The publication of the document on hohPublica does not violate any agreements previously made with other publishers or platforms.
  • For theses without a publication requirement (e.g. Bachelor's and Master's theses): There is a recommendation for publication by the responsible supervisor(s) of the thesis and their consent that they may be named publicly in connection with the thesis.

Registration for submission

To submit a document for publication in hohPublica, you need a user account on hohPublica.

If you have a valid Hohenheim user account, you can simply log in with these account details. After accepting the user agreement when logging in for the first time, a hohPublica user account will be generated.

If you do not have a valid Hohenheim user account and would still like to submit a document for publication, please contact our team at KIM directly to obtain a user account if you meet the requirements for publication.

Submission via the input mask on hohPublica

You submit your document yourself using the input mask on hohPublica.

Go directly to hohPublica

After logging in to hohPublica, you will be given access to your area ("My area") via the navigation bar.

A bar will appear at the top of your area into which you can drag and drop your file. You will be asked for the collection to which you would like to add your document. Please search for your institute and select it. You will then be redirected to the input mask.

Alternatively, click on the plus symbol to the right of the file field to start the input. You can also upload your file within the input mask.

Please follow the steps in the input mask.

Before you can send the file and completed form to us, it is necessary that you accept the publication contract displayed. Please read the contract carefully and make sure that you agree to the terms and conditions. After you have accepted the contract by clicking on the checkbox, you can send your submission to us for review by clicking on the green button at the bottom right.

Mandatory information for dissertations

If you would like to publish a dissertation on hohPublica as part of the doctoral procedure, please include the following information in the input mask:

Formal data (input mask area "Formal description")

  • Title of the thesis (input mask field name "Title"): Incl. subtitle. If there is a subtitle, separate it from the title with " : ".
  • Name of the author ("Authors" field description input mask): Please enter the name in the form last name, first name.
  • Year of completion of the dissertation = date of publication (input mask field label "Date of issue"): Enter the year as it appears on the title page of the thesis. Although it is possible to enter a whole date in the input mask, it is sufficient to enter the year.
  • Language in which the thesis was written (input mask "Language").

Examination data (input mask area "Document type and specific fields")

  • Document type "Doctoral Thesis" (input mask field name "Type"): Based on the selection of this document type, further fields appear that are important for dissertations.
  • Name of the main supervisor (input mask field name "Supervisors"): Multiple supervisors / examiners / reporters can be specified here. However, the indication of the main supervisor is usually sufficient.
  • Faculty from which the thesis was accepted (input mask field name "Faculty")
  • Institute where the thesis was written (input mask field name "Institute")
  • Date of the oral examination (input mask field name "Date of exam")

Content description (input mask field "Content description")

  • DDC classification (input mask field name "DDC subject group"): Please select a suitable DDC subject group.
  • Abstract of the work (input mask field name "Abstract"): Please insert a short summary of your work in German and English here. You can use the "Add" button below the text field to open another field for a different language.

Selection of the publication license (input mask area "Publication license selection")

  • License (input mask field name Publication license): Please select the license under which you would like to publish your work. Information on copyright and the available licenses can be found under Copyright & licenses.

Review & activation

We will check your submitted document and the data you have entered promptly and activate it if all the above requirements are met. We reserve the right to revise the bibliographic data entered in the input mask (e.g. title etc.) in accordance with international library standards.

You will be informed about the activation by e-mail to the address associated with the user account. When submitting via the Hohenheim user account, this is always your address with "@uni-hohenheim.de".

If we have any queries about the submission or a reason to reject the publication of the document in its current form, we will also inform you promptly by email. As a rule, you can quickly correct and subsequently submit purely formal deficiencies in the file.
