Accessing the Hohenheim network via VPN

If you wish to connect to the internet with your notebook, tablet or smartphone while on campus, you will need a VPN client in addition to the physical WLAN/LAN connection. The VPN client performs several functions:

  • You use it to identify yourself to the Hohenheim network as a member of the university and as being authorised to use the network.
  • It established an encrypted and secure connection to the Internet.
  • You receive a Hohenheim IP address (144.41.*), which is required in order to use some of the services in Hohenheim. It also lets you access Hohenheim resources from home (see worldwide).

Cisco Secure Client (formerly AnyConnect) only supports the current operating systems.

    VPN connection with Windows/Mac

Install the Cisco Secure Client (VPN client).

    Installation

    1. Here you can download the Cisco Secure Client.
    2. Now install the client on your system.

    3. If you have a VPN connection, then in the Windows taskbar / in the Mac dock you will see a closed padlock.
