Access to Hohenheim network

Are you on the road or at home and would like to connect to the Hohenheim network, e.g. to access the electronic journals, databases, or e-books licensed by the University of Hohenheim?

At home or on the road - VPN

If you want to work from home in the university network, establish a VPN connection. If you are connected, this also allows you to use the library's electronically licensed services.

Requirements

You need a Hohenheim user account, an internet connection, and a VPN client on your device. You must also have set up multi-factor authentication. You can find out how to set up multi-factor authentication here.

Connect to Hohenheim network

  • Connect to the internet using LAN or WiFi.  
  • Start your VPN client and identify yourself with your Hohenheim user account and your second factor.
  • You will be assigned a Hohenheim IP address and can work with the same rights as on campus.
  • Please don’t start your internet browser until you have connected through the VPN client.

At a research institute worldwide - eduroam

If you are visiting a scientific institution, you can connect to the internet using eduroam.
You can access the Hohenheim network by setting up a VPN connection. Once you are connected, your computer will receive a university IP address. With it, you can access electronic journals licensed to the University of Hohenheim, subject databases, or e-books.

  • Connect using WiFi with the network eduroam
  • Identify yourself with your Hohenheim user account and the domain uni-hohenheim.de
    If no domain is requested, your log-in is: 
    [Hohenheim user account]@uni-hohenheim.de (e.g. mueller@uni-hohenheim.de)
  • Now you can use the internet

  • If you want to work with the same rights as in Hohenheim, you can also start your VPN Client
