When connecting to the Ciscco Secure Client under Linux, the following error message appears: "The following Certificate received from the Server could not be verified"

  • Problem

The Cisco Secure Client (formerly AnyConnect) searches the operating system for valid SSL root certificates in various
places. Unfortunately, the SSL
root certificates are not always stored in
the same place on different Linux distributions. For this reason, it is possible that no suitable SSL root certificate can be found when
connecting and the
above error message appears.

  • Solution

The Cisco Secure Client on Linux uses the following directory
"/opt/.cisco/certificates/ca" for the SSL root certificates. A symbolic link from the "T-TeleSec GlobalRoot Class 2" SSL root certificate must be created in this directory.

1. cd /opt/.cisco/certificates/ca
2. ln -s /etc/ssl/certs/T-TeleSec_GlobalRoot_Class_2.pem
