Introduction to Linux and High-Performance Computing (bwHPC), 04./05.11.2025 [07.10.25]
The Research-Related Services/KIM team will host a two-part online training on November 4–5, 2025, designed to help participants get started with High-Performance Computing in Baden-Württemberg (bwHPC).
This event is aimed at HPC-interested students, doctoral candidates, and staff from all disciplines who wish to carry out their computationally and/or data-intensive simulations and computing projects on high-performance computers in the future.
Part 1: Linux basics for High-Performance Computing (Tuesday, November 4, 2025)
This session is aimed at anyone who has little or no experience with the command line or in using typical UNIX/Linux command line tools. Basic commands such as creating, copying, and moving files, assigning permissions, and creating initial scripts in an editor, etc. will be explained.
Further information and registration for Part 1
Part 2: Introduction to High-Performance Computing (bwHPC) (Wednesday, November 5, 2025)
On the following day, participants will receive an introduction to the use of a compute cluster for computationally intensive data analysis (e.g., AI/ML applications) and simulations. Topics such as data transfer, software use, requesting computing resources, etc. will be presented and illustrated using examples on the bwUniCluster 3.0.
