Final MFA rollout for Microsoft 365: Mandatory for all users from 24 July 2026 [14.07.26]
Following the successful roll-out of MFA for students and staff, the requirement will apply without exception to all accounts – including external users and guests – from Friday 24 July 2026.
If, during the MFA transition in Teams or other Office products within the Hohenheim context, you see the message “You must log in again...”, please log out of the app manually. You will then be automatically redirected to the MFA setup when you log in again.
Important note on choosing an app (Microsoft Authenticator):
For Microsoft-only applications (such as MS Teams), the Microsoft Authenticator offers the simplest process for guests. Please note, however, that this app is not supported in the Hohenheim core context (SHA-512) and, in many cases, results in incorrect codes there. The KIM is therefore unable to provide technical support for the Microsoft Authenticator. The standard apps officially recommended and fully supported by the KIM are 2FAS (mobile) and KeePassXC (PC).
You can find detailed instructions on setting up MFA here:

For the desktop version, you can use KeePassXC (PC). Further information on MFA is available at https://kim.uni-hohenheim.de/en/mfa or https://kim.uni-hohenheim.de/en/studierende-ma.
