Journals

If you need a journal, magazine or newspaper, the following three search options will show you if you have access to it via the KIM Hohenheim.

Please note, in the databases listed below, you will find no journal articles!

Best practice

1. Search in Hohenheim

The Hohenheim Catalogue contains all print journals which are subscribed by the library of the KIM (Central and Departmental Library) or the institute libraries as well as usually the electronic journals that are licensed for the Hohenheim campus.

The catalogue informs about call numbers, locations and the volumes which are available in Hohenheim. The issues of the current year can be found in the periodicals reading room in both parts of the library, older volumes are shelved by call numbers in the open stacks.

Call numbers for journals usually start with a Z or Y in the Central Library and with a Q or X in the Departmental Library. Volumes before 1980 have been relocated into our external stack and can be ordered via the link "Order" using Hohenheim Catalogue.

As a rule, the electronic journals licenced for Hohenheim Campus can be found in the Hohenheim Catalogue. Compared to the print version, the electronic journals have the addition "elektronische Ressource". A link leads to the full text.

If the search for an electronic journal in the Hohenheim Catalogue does not bring favorable results, we recommend that you perform an additional search in the Electronic Journals Library (EZB) (see below).

Please note: The Hohenheim Catalogue does not contain periodical articles!

3. Search the German National Serials Database (ZDB) - Zeitschriftendatenbank

The Journal Database (ZDB) is the world's largest database for titles and holdings of serial publications, i.e. journals, newspapers, etc. in both printed and electronic form.

Please note: The ZDB does not list any articles!

Copies of articles from a journal available in another library can be ordered via inter-library loan.

2. Search the Electronic Journals Library (EZB)

The Electronic Journals Library (EZB) is a cooperative service of more than 300 libraries. Their aim is to provide a possibility to use scientific e-journals effectively over the internet.

There, you can find links to all the electronic journals to which you - as a user of the library of the KIM Hohenheim - have access. Journals which are licensed for Hohenheim Campus are marked with a yellow (or yellow - red) point, jounals which are available for free on the internet are marked with a green point.

If you are searching for print journals, please use the Hohenheim Catalogue or the German National Serials Database (see below).

Please note: The EZB itself does not contain journal articles!

Access to electronic journals

The library of KIM Hohenheim makes electronic full-text journals available via the Electronic Journals Library (EZB).

Members of the Universität Hohenheim may access nearly all e-journals when off campus. Non-members of the Universität Hohenheim may only research in the e-journals from the computers without log-in in the KIM library.
