Lending modalities

From both parts of the library (Central Library and Departmental Library), a total of 30 media can be borrowed.

• Textbooks / Monographs: 30 days
• Journals: cannot be borrowed

Reference media is not available for loan.

Renewals are possible up to three times by 30 days each.

Requirement:

• possible at the earliest 10 days before the expiration of the loan period
• Only possible if the copy has not been reserved by other users

You can renew the loan period online using your library account.
Renewals can be requested orally, by phone, in writing (also by email) at the Circulation Counter of the Central Library or Departmental Library.

Overdue notices are automatically sent by the loan system for media whose loan period has been exceeded. These notices are sent by post or by email. Before the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th notice is issued, there is a period of 10 days in each case within which you must return the overdue media or - if possible - request a renewal at the circulation counter.
The overdue fees are based on the fee regulations of the University of Hohenheim’s Communication, Information, and Media Center.

Please note: If your library account is debited with a third overdue notice or with more than € 15 in fees, it will be automatically blocked for further loans. It is then not possible to renew media.

The overdue fees are:

1. 1st overdue notice per unit € 1.50
2. 2nd overdue notice per unit € 5.00
3. and for the 4th overdue notice additionally per unit € 10.00

Please note that the fees are added up!

It is possible to place holds (reservations) on items currently on loan to other users.

As soon as the reserved item is returned you will receive an e-mail. Please let us know your current e-mail-adress. The item will be kept up to 10 days at the circulation counter at the Central Library for you to pick up.

It is not possible to place a hold on media from the BB.

Please return media on loan in the part of the University Library where you borrowed them.

Out of hours, you can drop them in the book return boxes.
