Ebrary

Ebrary is a platform with which you can access e-books from various publishers licenced by KIM Hohenheim.

Access

If you would like to access the offers from outside of the campus network, you will need a VPN Client. In the campus network, you can access the offer directly.

Please note:
There is a limited number of users that can access the books simultaneously; the number of users varies depending on the title. Most titles are available with single-user access, that means that only one user can access it at a time. If you receive the message that all licences are currently in use, try again later.
If you are done using an e-book, please close it so that others can use it. If you have been inactive for 15 minutes, you will automatically be timed out.

Registration

It is not necessary to register with Ebrary. However, if you go through the free registration process, additional features will be available to you.

Options for use

Depending on whether you have created an account or not, different features will be available for your use.

Options for use without an account

  • Print or save a small number of pages per session as a pdf (see print dialogue) using the function “Infotools - Print”. (Texts can be used offline if you print them as a pdf.)
  • Copy short text passages using the function “Infotools - Copy”.
  • Export to RefWorks and Citavi
  • Full-text search in all licenced titles

Additional features with an account

  • Print/Copy/Partial download of a limited number of pages per print / copy / or saving process. Saving is done with an image pdf using the download button, this means that the documents cannot be searched but are permanently available (offline use is possible).
The number of pages that can be printed at once depends on the length of the book. Usually, per session around one-third of the book can be printed/copied/saved.
  • Notes and comments in all available titles (using “Infotools - Create Note”)
  • Creating a bookshelf to quickly access certain titles
  • Organizing documents
