Warning of current phishing wave [20.11.23]
There is currently a phishing wave in circulation that aims to steal your access data using fake e-mails. We would like to urge you to be vigilant and exercise particular caution.
What is it about?
Emails claiming to come from KIM and asking you to update or validate your password for security reasons. Please note that this is a fraudulent action. KIM would never send you an e-mail asking you to change or validate your password in this way.
How do I recognize the fraudulent email?
- The e-mail could contain grammatical or spelling mistakes.
- The sender may use a slightly modified version of our official email domain.
- You will usually be asked to click on a link and enter your login details.
What should you do?
- Delete suspicious e-mails immediately without clicking on links or opening attachments.
- Check the sender carefully, especially if you are asked to disclose personal information.
- Report suspicious e-mails immediately to Information Security (itsec@uni-hohenheim.de).
How do you protect yourself?
- Use strong passwords and change them regularly.
- Inform yourself regularly (e.g. on the BSI website (https://www.bsi.bund.de/) about the latest phishing methods and stay up to date.
We take the security of our data and networks very seriously and are working hard to take all necessary measures to protect you from such threats. Your cooperation and vigilance are critical to maintaining the integrity of our infrastructure systems.
