Project bwDataLiteracy

Promoting data and information literacy – strengthening professional and social participation

This innovative academiceducation program aims to promote equal opportunities in the field of data literacy and strengthening professional participation, with a particular focus on women, people with a migration background and inclusion.

The bwDataLiteracy project, funded by the European Social Fund Plus in Baden-Württemberg, is a joint initiative of the University of Konstanz and the University of Hohenheim with the aim of developing a continuing education program to promote data literacy in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The focus here is on the active promotion of women in the German labor market with a view to reconciling work and family life, as well as people with a migration background and people with disabilities.

The concept for this continuing education program envisages a modular structure, with content covering the two funding priorities of data key competencies (information and data literacy, law and ethics) and data subject competencies (data management & data analysis, statistical intuition).

The University of Konstanz and the University of Hohenheim are collaborating on this project. The University of Konstanz has proven diversity expertise and is a pioneer in the field of open science, being involved in numerous research data management projects. The University of Hohenheim is driving forward the digital transformation in research and teaching and has expert knowledge in the field of data and information literacy The project is supported by an advisory board that includes representatives from business, part-time continuing education, and didactics, who provide advice based on their diverse expertise.

The Academy for Scientific Continuing Education (Aademie für Wissenschaftliche Weiterbildung AWW) at the University of Konstanz is a cooperation partner in this project due to its extensive expertise in part-time academic continuing education.
