Basic services at the University of Hohenheim

Hohenheim user account

Gives you access to the Internet, e-mail, intranet, e-learning system ILIAS, campus management HohCampus and numerous other services offered by the KIM.

E-mail / Calendar

Your Hohenheim e-mail address is essential for communication at the university. Also use the integrated calendar, which you can connect with tools like Outlook or Thunderbird.

Personal storage

Each person has a personal storage space (CIFS). Shared file storage is also available for employees.

Internet / Network

The following options are available on campus for accessing the Internet.:

Wireless via WLAN: Log in via eduroam or use VPN for access.
Wired via LAN: Connect your device to a network socket via a LAN cable. As an employee, you receive a fixed IP address for your office PC and can use the network without VPN. Otherwise, a VPN connection is required.

VPN enables a secure connection to the Hohenheim network. eduroam is an international WLAN roaming for educational institutions.

Office PC for institutes

Hardware: Procurement is carried out by the institutes via central procurement
Operating system: Windows 10 is recommended
Virus protection: ESET Endpoint Antivirus can be downloaded via ILIAS
Application software: Programs such as Microsoft Office or Adobe Acrobat Pro can be downloaded via ILIAS
IT support: In case of problems, first contact your IT representative. However, the IT service desk of the KIM is also at your disposal

Office PC for the University Administration

User account: In addition to the Hohenheim user account you need a special user ID in the administration
Hardware: The IT hardware is provided in coordination with and by the KIM
Standard software: The computers are equipped with Windows 10 incl. virus scanner, Office, Acrobat and other tools
Specialized applications: Special applications such as SAP-GUI, HIS-SOS/POS/ZUL and others are activated via the respective contact persons
IT support: In case of problems, first contact your IT representative. However, the IT service desk of the KIM is also at your disposal

Library user account

A library account will be created for you at the Central Library Circulation Counter. You can find information about this registration by following the link below. Official inter-library loan requests can be charged internally through a department account.

Circulation counter

You can borrow media directly with your student ID or employee card. The library number on the card serves as a library card. In addition, you can reserve, renew or order media or request them from the external stacks.

With our literature search engine you can search the holdings of the Hohenheim libraries and selected subject databases. In the university network you have access to licensed e-media.
