TYPO3 homepage or classic web presence?

You have the choice between a TYPO3-based web presence and a classic presence that you program yourself.

With TYPO3 as the content management system (CMS), you have a powerful tool for publishing web content. It is set up quickly and ready to go and can be used intuitively without programming knowledge. You have nothing to do with the technical maintenance of the system. That means you can concentrate completely on your content.

In most cases, TYPO3 will be the answer if you want to establish a web presence.

If TYPO3 does not fulfill your requirements, e. g. because you would like to show a special process on the internet, then you will need to develop your own web presence based on HTML, PHP, or MySQL. In this case, however, you are responsible for development, maintenance, updating, and security.

How to proceed with a TYPO3 homepage

You can request a TYPO3 homepage free of charge from the Web Design & Development Unit. As soon as the homepage has been set up, you will be notified via e-mail.

There is a handbook to help you. You can also participate in a one-day, free training.

Process for classic web presence

You need a project directory on the file server as web space. Please fill in the appropriate application. Please include the web address.

If you also require a MySQL database, you will need to apply for it separately.

We will notify you once we have set up the project directory, web address and database (if applicable), then you can start developing your page. You can store your files in the corresponding project directory.

Protection of web directories

You can find out how to restrict the access to your web presence directories and regulate access with IP addresses or entering a user name and password here.
